What is a reasonable budget for a bathroom remodel?
Bathroom renovations on the Sunshine Coast will depend on a number of factors including your choice of materials and material suppliers, finishes, service providers costs, demolition needs, and more.
For simple, basic bathroom renovations that are limited to paint jobs and new tiles–some clients have managed to keep their budgets below $6K AUD. Other customers will be interested in sourcing all new appliances, finishes, tiles and woods, and more. For these clients, you can expect to spend upward of $40K AUD to completely renovate a bathroom.
On average, we suspect that most bathroom remodels will fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. Budgeting approximately $20K AUD for a bathroom renovation seems reasonable when you know where you are willing to spend and where you want to save costs.
How can I update my existing bathroom?
Never underestimate the influence of a new paint job, window trimmings, replacing old and outdated mirrors, and updating basic finishes. (Including tops, water faucets, and joinery including towel bars and soap racks.)
If you’re interested in an entirely new space and are willing to undergo a full remodel, you can start considering flooring, walling, windows, and pulling out and reinstalling bathtubs, showers, sinks, cabinets, and more.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
This will depend on the scope of your entire project. Where some clients simply want to redo the bathroom floors, others are interested in a full demolition and remodel.
If you’re booking in simple services such as tiling only, we suspect your project will be finished top to end in less than a week. If you’re planning for an entire gut out and refinish, expect to wait at least one month (upwards of two!) for all service work, deliveries, and installation to be complete.
What adds the most value to a bathroom?
Without a doubt–flooring and feature finishes. Marble tiling, intricate tiling design, a porcelain tub, and glass shower walls go very, very far when affecting the value of a bathroom on your property value and home. More so than the overall outcome of a new paint job, these finishes and projects tend to be more expensive–a cost that can vary based on suppliers, material choices, and finishes–and will add more value than a quick coat of paint.
(That said–never underestimate the overall aesthetic upgrade a slick of paint can add to a room’s look and feel!)
